Just hours ago, it was officially announced that Halle Bailey had been cast as Ariel in Disney's upcoming, live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Bailey is an R&B singer who works alongside her sister as a part of the group known as Chloe x Halle. She's basically got one other acting credit, that being in Grown-ish.

Along with many anticipating fans, Bailey herself has taken to social media to celebrate and reaffirm her casting. The actress tweeted out an image from the official Twitter account of her and her sister's group (@chloexhalle). The tweet itself adorably read "Dream come true..." and contained an image.

The image was that of an iconic shot of Ariel atop a rock as the waves crash around her, only this time she's sporting darker skin. One can only presume that this is our first look at what Bailey's version of the character will look like. The skin colour's a given but whether she'll flaunt red hair is still up in the air.
