The Lion King recently had a star-studded premiere in Los Angeles. The film itself will be releasing in theatres in eight days. With it's debut so close, Disney are releasing more an more clips from the upcoming remake.
Thus far, we've gotten a clip which features the iconic
"Circle of Life" scene, one in which Scar teaches Simba how to roar, and another which features Timon and Pumbaa first discovering the heir to the throne. Now we've gotten another.
This one, again, features the trio of Timon, Pumbaa, and Simba. However, now Simba has aged and is voiced by Donald Glover instead of JD McCrary. The below clip serves as our first hearing of the new rendition of the iconic
"Hakuna Matata" song. It features the vocals of Glover, Billy Eichner, and Seth Rogen.
Glover debuted the clip during an interview on
Jimmy Kimmel Live! in which he was garbed in a lion onesie. Check it out below (at 6:41):
Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. Disney's live-action remake of The Lion King is set to arrive in theaters on July 19th, 2019.
