Obviously, a movie like
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is going to get a line of LEGO toys and sets. One such set, The Rexcelsior, was revealed at the London Toy Fair.
This 1,800-plus piece LEGO set recreates Rex Dangervest's super-awesome sci-fi spaceship, the Rexcelsior. For those unfamiliar, Rex Dangervest is the ruggedly handsome, galaxy defending archaeologist, cowboy, and raptor trainer. He's also incredibly awesome and everything Emmet aspires to be, as evidenced by his drawing stubble on his own face. It all makes sense if you've seen the latest trailer.
The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, “The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are now facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt. The battle to defeat the invaders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a galaxy filled with fantastic planets, strange characters and catchy new songs. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
The Rexcelsior LEGO set includes two minifigures: Stubble Trouble Emmet and Rex Dangervest, plus Emmet and Rex microfigures and 5 micro raptor dinosaur toy figures. The ship itself features big boosters, dual microfigure cockpit, a detailed microscale interior with actual rooms and compartments, functioning doors, and a 6-missile spring-loaded shooter (along with an ammo storage compartment). It also includes micro builds of Emmet's house, a forklift, two interaptors, and a dropship.
This massive set will be available starting May 1, 2019, for $149.99. Meanwhile,
The LEGO Movie 2 hits theaters long before that on February 8, 2019.
