Pierre Perifel's gotta feel quite special around this time as his directorial debut feature, The Bad Guys, is projected to beat some pretty stiff competition in the box office.
It's no secret that this weekend's box office is pretty packed with some special films like Sonic The Hedgehog 2 and the threequel that is Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, and more. But, with no truly direct new competition and the high praise it's recieved from critics including us, where we called it a "stellar comic book-inspired visuals mixed with hilarious gags for viewers of all ages."
The flick's projected to open to $25 million across around four thousand locations, which would be more than enough to swipe the top spot from its weekend box office competition. Granted, it's far from the production's budget, but the film already supposedly made up much of its budget when combining both North America and the rest of the world together in the days before its weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.
If its successful enough, it could enter a battle for the top spot against some notable flicks like the third entry to the Fantastic Beasts franchise and Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
The liklihood only seems to grow with the fact that no new kid-friendly animated flicks are set to release until Lightyear hits theaters in June, it seems like The Bad Guys can certainly capitalize on the positive press alongside potnetial word-of-mouth in coming weeks.
