The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise may have just begun as an indie comic book, but it has since become one of hte biggest entertainment franchises in the world. Since its creation, these four pizza-loving turtles have become staple characters in the home of every child since the 80s and have yet to show any signs of slowing down.
Aside from the original cartoon, another piece of media that has helped shaped the fanbase into what it is today has been the 1990 film of the same name. Now, celebrating 30 years since its release, a recent interview was conducted with the film's producer Kim Dawson and one of the film's writers, Bobby Herbeck!
There were tons of laughs and even more nuggets of information in regard to the creation of the film. One of the questions that were asked was, "I'm pretty sure Casey Jones attempted to murder Shredder with the trash compactor. But I was curious, was it always the plan to bring him back for the second movie?" to which producer Kim responded, "It was a commercial thing. We weren't sure we were going to make a sequel. We had the rights to do three, but we weren't sure until the box office. It was a week and a half after the opening that Golden Harvest ordered the second picture. I think it was not knowing what was going to happen, where you can leave it over a cliff hanger. You want to give yourself options at the end of the day. It may have been a production decision."
It turns out ninja skills are no match for the power of the Hollywood machine, but at least it managed to bring the turtle's greatest foe back from a certain and stinky demise. The full trailer can be found in the link below, and we would love to hear your thoughts n this interesting behind-the-scenes glimpse at the classic film!
