Superman: Red Son is set to take flight later this month with its digital release but before it does so, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will host a premiere of the film on February 24 at The Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. Several of the animated film's voice cast will participate in a post-screening Q&A, including Jason Isaacs (Superman), Diedrich Bader (Lex Luthor), Amy Acker (Lois Lane), Vanessa Marshall (Wonder Woman), Roger Craig Smith (Batman), Phil LaMarr (John Stewart), Sasha Roiz (Hal Jordan), Travis Willingham (Superior Man), and Phil Morris (James Olsen).
Superman: Red Son is an adaptation of Mark Millar's 2003 series and reimagines the world if Superman had been raised in the Soviet Union instead of the United States. Set during the Cold War, a new clip from the animated film features a newscaster as he reports on Kal-El's work with the Soviets. Naturally, the response is fear and paranoia as the footage shows Superman deflecting bullets, resisting fire, and hurling a tank — powers that could set off a "new kind of arms race."
Based on DC’s famed Elseworlds tale from 2003, Superman: Red Son takes place in an alternate reality where the spaceship bearing the last survivor of Krypton crash lands – not in rural Kansas, but in Stalinist Russia. Can this Cold War-era Earth survive the coming of a Soviet Superman?
Superman: Red Son will be available digitally on February 25. It's set to arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on April 17. Following its release will be another Superman movie,
Superman: Man of Tomorrow, a completely original film not based on any existing DC Comics material.
