The social media embargo for The Super Mario Bros. Movie has finally lifted following last night's world premiere.
The animated movie arrives in theaters this coming Wednesday, and while there's been a lot of uncertainty about some of the casting choices made by Illumination, it sounds like a guaranteed hit.
As you'll see below, critics had a blast and, while there was at least one of them who didn't find himself getting caught up in the fun, all signs point to those full reviews being very positive. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is already expected to score a huge 5-day opening and verdicts like these should only help increase interest in the days and weeks ahead.
Princess Peach actress, Anya Taylor-Joy, meanwhile, has got everyone talking with her choice of attire for the premiere. As you can see, The New Mutants star was decked out in Peach's Mario Kart gear proving that, if they ever make another live-action Mario movie, she needs to be cast as this character!

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Jack Black as Bowser, as Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to be released in theaters on April 5, 2023.
