Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse swung into theaters yesterday in several locations before going on general release today, and Sony Pictures' animated sequel has already made a huge impact at the box office.
According to Deadline, the Into the Spider-Verse follow-up took in $16M from preview screenings that began at 3PM at 3,562 theaters, giving it the second-biggest preview night ever for an animated movie after Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2 ($18.5M) back in 2018.
As things stand, Across the Spider-Verse is on track for a spectacular $150 million global opening.
The review embargo lifted yesterday (you can check out our verdict here), and the movie currently sits at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
