Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse swings into theaters this weekend, and Sony Pictures' animated sequel is looking at a spectacular debut.

According to the latest estimates, the Into the Spider-Verse follow-up is expected to take in $80 million, with some analysts predicting closer to $90M.

The movie reportedly cost the studio $100 million to produce, and considering its predecessor webbed-up just $35M when it hit theaters back in 2018, this would be a pretty healthy bow. However, Across the Spider-Verse will face stiff competition from Disney's The Little Mermaid, which is swimming into its second weekend, and Stephen King adaptation, The Boogeyman.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The confirmed voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, Daniel Kaluuya, Shea Whigham, Jorma Taccone, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Brian Tyree Henry.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be with us June 2, 2023
