SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Deleted Scene Finally Gives Cyborg Spider-Woman More Than Just A Cameo

Cyborg Spider-Woman ended up being something of a non-factor in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but a newly released delete scene reveals the character once had a more significant role in the movie.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was a masterpiece in terms of animation, and while it was essentially half a story (with a sequel now boasting a "TBD" release date), it's likely a shoo-in for "Best Animated Feature" at the Oscars.

The movie featured a lot of Spider-People, with the core group adorning various merchandise prior to its release in theaters. Some had bigger roles than others, but the heavily promoted Cyborg Spider-Woman proved to be something of a non-factor in Across the Spider-Verse

A newly released deleted scene - presented as a very rough animatic - confirms both she and Spider-Woman 2099 were once supposed to join Spider-Gwen as the teenager explored The Spot's base.

Like in the theatrical version, Miles Morales remains hidden but is eventually discovered and makes his case for joining the Spider-Society. That scene now comes much later in the movie and it was Jessica Drew's Spider-Woman who interrupts Gwen in the final cut. It's a significant change, though lines up with what we've heard about how the production played out.

Cyborg Spider-Woman could have been a fun character to spend more time with, but there's always a chance we'll see more of her in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. For now, watch this new deleted scene in the players below.

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now available on Digital platforms.
