SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Clip Spoils The Sequel's Venomverse Cameo

We're not sure what Sony Pictures was thinking by releasing this, but a clip from an international TV spot reveals Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's much-talked-about live-action cameo.

Fans had hoped for Tom Holland, but instead, we're getting Venom supporting character Mrs. Chen. In what appears to be recycled footage from Venom: Let There Be Carange, the store owner briefly comes face-to-face with The Spot, though she clearly isn't impressed by the reality-hopping supervillain.

With any luck, this is a misdirect and the movie itself will feature something a little more exciting. If this is it for nods to the live-action Spider-Verse, though, we're sure all the Spider-Man Variants set to make an appearance will more than make up for a lack of star power on this front.

In other Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse news, the sequel has been rated "PG for frenetic sequences of animated action violence, some language and thematic elements."

Watch the clip below.

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023.
