Earlier this week, we learned that a top-secret actor has been cast as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's Scarlet Spider.
The cat spider may already be out of the bag, though, as it's been confirmed that Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg has joined the cast of the sequel.
Last year, it was confirmed that Jorma Taccone, a member of Samberg's comedy trio The Lonely Island, will lend his voice to The Vulture. However, their Instagram account has now confirmed he'll be joined by Samberg in a currently undisclosed role. Scarlet Spider seems the most likely possibility, though it's not as if he's the movie's only Spider-Man Variant.
In the comics, Ben Reilly is Peter Parker's clone and took up the Scarlet Spider mantle before replacing his "brother' as Spider-Man.
Some new posters for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse have also found their way online which you can take a closer look at below.
Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.
But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023.
