Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was packed full of surprises for fans, but among the biggest was an appearance from Donald Glover as a live-action Prowler.

The actor first played Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming; unfortunately, there wasn't room for him to reprise the role in either Far From Home or No Way Home. Whether this cameo is meant to set the stage for that is hard to say, though it's worth bearing in mind the actor previously worked with producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller on Solo: A Star Wars Story

Now, costume designer Trayce Gigifield has shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Glover suited up as Prowler (it's the second shot in the Instagram gallery below).

Clearly heavily inspired by the costume seen in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this is a terrific design and one we'd definitely like to see take centre stage in Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4. After all, that Miles Morales tease being addressed is well-overdue at this stage.

"A contender for the best Spider-Man film yet and easily the greatest animated movie ever made," we said in our review"Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a jaw-dropping spectacle, a feast for the senses, and an instant Marvel classic."

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now playing in theaters.
