Will the live-action He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie ever happen?  Sony has delayed its Masters of the Universe film a number of times but now it''s just simply removed the project completely off its film slate.  It obviously wasn't going to make its March 2021 release date but in past times, Sony would have just pushed the release date back.

Sony has been attempting to make a new live-action He-Man movie since 2007.  Over the years, names like John Woo, Joel Silver, Jon M. Chu, Jeff Wadlow and David S. Goyer have all been attached to the project.

Back in April 2019, actor Noah Centineo was cast to play the titular hero and it seemed as if the project was finally getting off the ground.

Based on Mattel's toyline from the '80s, the He-Man toy franchise has received a number of animated cartoon adaptations including the original '83 Filmation series, the 1990  New Adventures of He-Man and the 2002 Cartoon Network reboot He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.  In addition, Netflix has announced two new projects, a He-Man anime sequel from Kevin Smith and a brand new animated series.
