While I think it's fair to say that most of us would have been happier with a live-action version, it's been revealed today that Lauren Montgomery (Batman: Year OneSuperman/Batman: Apocalypse) is in talks to take the helm of a Spider-Woman movie which will bring together a number of female spider heroes, one of whom is expected to be Spider-Gwen from Into the Spider-Verse

There are conflicting reports about whether or not Gwen Stacy will end up being the lead but the project is expected to include names like Spider-Woman, Madame Web, Spider-Girl, and Silk.

Bek Smith (Zoo) is penning the screenplay, while Amy Pascal is on board to produce. Phil Lord and Chris Miller are expected to return in
a creative capacity of some sort but no deals have been signed.

Meanwhile, it's also been confirmed that an Into the Spider-Verse sequel is moving forward, with Joaquim Dos Santos (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Netflix's Voltron) on board to direct. No story details have been revealed but it's said that the upcoming animated movie is going to set the stage for future adventures in some way (which was to be expected when you think about it).
