In just two days,
Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres for the first time. The upcoming, live-action video game movie stars Ben Scwhartz as the voice of the titular speedster, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and James Marsden and Tika Sumpter.
Schwartz is following in the footsteps of greats like Roger Craig Smith and Jason Griffiths in voicing the iconic, blue speedster. The actor acknowledges as much in this new
IGN video (via
Gamefragger). Previously, Schwartz has stated that he's a big fan of
Sonic the Hedgehog and playing the role is like a dream come true.
Well, the actor proved how much of a
Sonic the Hedgehog fan he is in the fun, new video. The actor goes through the character's introduction back in 1991, his personality and design, as well as what he was looking to do with the role in the upcoming movie. Check it out for yourself below:
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
