On February 14th,
Sonic the Hedgehog races onto theatre screens in his very own live-action feature film! The upcoming movie is based on the popular video game franchise and character of the same name.
Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey star as the titular speedster and Dr. Robotnik respectively while James Marsden and Tika Sumpter play original characters — Tom and Maddie Wachowski. Jeff Fowler serves as director.
With the film's release on the horizon, both Instagram and Twitter have introduced official trinkets to spruce up its social media presence (via
Gamefragger). First of all, Twitter has introduced a hashflag which is attached to the #SonicMovie and #CatchSonic hashtags. It's a small image of the blue speedster which fans voted on.
Instagram recently introduced a filter which detects your face and applies a mood using an image from the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie — it varies from Sonic cheering, looking sad, confused, and beyond. The official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account (
@SonicMovie) shared a demostration of the filter — which you can check out below.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
