Back in April, Paramount Pictures released the very first trailer for their live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Suffice it to say, fans weren't pleased with how they butchered the titular speedster's iconic look. In response to the immense backlash, the film's director, Jeff Fowler took to social media to announce that they would delay the release date in order to rework the character design.

We're beyond thrilled to report that the months of work have paid off as Sonic's new look is simply fantastic. Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie which finally shows off what copious amounts of fan backlash and fan-art can get you.

You can check out that trailer below — as well as new and official synopsis (via Gamefragger). Sonic the Hedgehog is now set to arrive in theatres on February 14th, 2020 — a perfect Valentine's Day flick. Ben Schwartz stars as Sonic the Hedgehog, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and James Marsden plays Sheriff Tom Wachowski.

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
