Early long-range tracking predicted that the upcoming, live-action video game movie could earn between $20 million and $30 million at the box office during its opening weekend. However, now it seems that the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie is in for an even better score. Recent reports believe the movie could earn over $40 million when it arrives in theatres — even as much as $47 million.
The general public's positive outlook towards the live-action movie is cited as reasoning for this what with its most recent official trailer holding the highest like-to-dislike ratio on YouTube in the last three years (via

It certainly doesn't seem like it has any competition what with
Fantasy Island expected to earn just $12M-$16M when it arrives in theatres on Valentine's Day and
The Photograph predicted to earn $10M-$14M. It seems that Sonic the Hedgehog will make back over half of its $95 million budget during its opening alone.
