Ten days ago,
Sonic the Hedgehog debuted in theatres across the world. The live-action video game movie stars Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey as the titular speedster and Dr. Robotnik respectively as well as James Marsden and Tika Sumpter as Tom and Maddie Wachowski. Jeff Fowler serves as director.
Back when
Sonic the Hedgehog first arrived in theatres, the movie made over $100 million at the worldwide box office and almost $60 million domestically. Those are some impressive numbers, especially when considering that many experts predicted it would be a flop last year.
Now the movie's second weekend in theatres has come, gone, and proven that its opening wasn't a mere fluke.
Sonic the Hedgehog sits at #1 yet again. However,
Call of the Wild did manage to put up some fierce competition. The new Harrison Ford starrer made $24.8 million over the course of the last couple of days whereas Sonic the Hedgehog made $26.3 million.
Blumhouse will be releasing their
Invisible Man reboot ahead of next weekend. Therefore, it stands to reason that Sonic the Hedgehog could lose next weekend — but we'll just have to wait and see. Below is a list of the top 10 highest-grossing movies between February 21st and the 23rd (via
Gamefragger):
Sonic the Hedgehog – $26.3M ($107M Overall)
The Call of the Wild – $24.8M (Debut)

Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
