Paramount Pictures recently released an exciting, new teaser for the upcoming
Sonic the Hedgehog movie. The promo features a bit of new footage as well as a moment in which the titular speedster references Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Sonic arrives on Earth and immediately asks,
"Where am I? What year is it? Is The Rock president?"
Johnson himself took to social media after this to comment on being mentioned in the promo.
"So crazy I used to love playing Sonic in college. Many moons later this... life can be so damn wildly unpredictable and surrel at times," read the actor's tweet —

Beyond that, Jeff Fowler took to Twitter to respond to Johnson's tweet with a tantalising offer. The director of the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie made it clear to The Rock that there's still time for him to record a cameo appearance — prior to the film's release on February 14th, 2020.
In response to this, many fans seem to want Johnson to voice the character of Knuckles — perhaps in a sequel. Though, it would make for a funny moment if Sonic were to suppose that The Rock is President only for it to actually turn out to be the case.
Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
