Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for the live-action
Sonic the Hedgehog movie, earlier this week, and fans were not happy with what they saw; rightfully criticizing the character's design, which looked almost nothing like his video game counterpart.
On account of the backlash from fans,
Sonic the Hedgehog movie Director Jeff Fowler has addressed these concerns on Twitter, thanking fans for their support, as well as revealing that Sonic's design will be changed to one that, hopefully, resembles any of the iterations from the games that fans know and love.
As per Fowler's tweet, Paramount and Sega are fully committed to doing the character justice; promising to make Sonic the best he can be, which is something that fans will definitely appreciate — as they expect no less from the blue hedgehog's first live-action movie.
Given that Sonic the Hedgehog won't be out until the
7th of November, Paramount and Sega still have quite a bit of time to work on Sonic's redesign. Hopefully they'll knock it out of the park and fans will finally be able to get the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie they deserve.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into theaters on the 7th of November.
