On February 14th, the live-action
Sonic the Hedgehog movie finally arrived in theatres. Starring Ben Schwartz as the titular character, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and James Marsden as Tom Wachowski; Jeff Fowler served as director.
Fowler recently took to social media to celebrate the movie's unprecedented success. Not only is the movie currently sat atop box office charts but reviews from general moviegoers are more than enthusiastic about it —
you can check ours out here.
Fowler wrote in a tweet (via
Gamefragger) that he's exceptionally grateful for the fans that have made the
Sonic the Hedgehog movie a success. Pair this with the knowledge that it's essentially his directorial debut and they're bound to put a smile on your face.
"What... a... DAY!!! No words can describe the appreciation I'm feeling right now," Fowler tweeted on February 14th before more than likely teasing a sequel.
"You've taken this little blue hedgehog to EPIC heights. We never could have done it without the FANS... THANK YOU for your LOVE and SUPPORT. The future is VERY bright for the BLUE BLUR."
Earlier today, Fowler took to social media with yet another tweet of gratitude. Again, the director has nothing to say but
"Thank you," to all of the fans who booked their tickets. He also shared some nice photos of himself with the movie's cast — and you can check those out below al (via

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
