After Paramount Pictures released the very first official trailer for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, fans of Sega's iconic video game character were left more than disappointed, mainly because of how bad Sonic looked.

Only a few hours after the trailer had been released, the Director for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, Jeff Fowler, revealed that they listened to fans and that Sonic's design will be changed before the movie comes out; finally giving fans of the blue hedgehog some hope.

One of the first to express his disappointment with the character's movie design was none other than Yuji Naka, co-creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, who flat out didn't like how his creation looked in live-action form.

Now that Fowler has told us that Sonic will be redesigned, Yuji Naka took to Twitter to thank fans for being so vocal about this whole debacle and calling them amazing for loving the character so much.

"The power of Sonic fans is amazing. It is good to go in a good direction. Thank you so much for loving Sonic", is what Naka wrote on his Twitter account in response to Fowler's tweet.

Sonic the Hedgehog is still 6 months away from releasing, but knowing that the character will be getting a makeover is definitely reassuring, especially sicne the movie doesn't look like it could end up being a complete failure — as fans' major complaint was Sonic's overall design. Let's keep our figners crossed for the movie to be good, regardless of how Sonic looks after his redesign.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into theaters on the 7th of November.
