Sonic the Hedgehog is an upcoming, live-action movie based on the popular video game series and character of the same name. Ben Schwartz stars as the titular speedster while Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik. The cast also includes James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Jeff Fowler directs.
Earlier today, each of the aforementioned cast members shared a brand new poster for the upcoming video game movie which features their respective character (via
Gamefragger). Schwartz, Sumpter, and Carrey shared their character posters via Twitter whereas Marsden's went up through his Instagram story — as he doesn't seem to have a Twitter account.
Representative of the character they're presenting; each of the posters are different colours and feature the character in question's name. If you weren't aware, given that she hasn't featured in much promotional material, Sumpter's character is called Maddie and seems to be a love interest of Marden's character.
Speaking of Marsden's character; rather than his character poster reading "Tom Wachowski," it instead says "Donut Lord." We can only assume that this is in reference to a joke that features in the film — Sonic will most likely call Tom that at some point as he's a police officer.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
