Paramount has shared a new poster for the upcoming film Sonic the Hedgehog 2, a sequel to the hit 2020 film based on the popular video game franchise of the same name. The poster sees Sonic and Tails on one side ready to rumble with Dr. Robotnik and Knuckles.
The highly anticipated sequel sees the return of Dr. Robotnik to Green Hills in search of a powerful emerald with the capability to destroy civilizations. Sonic, eager to prove he's a true hero, once again sets off to stop his arch nemesis, and he'll do so with the help of Miles "Tails" Prower.
After making a brief cameo at the end of the first film, Tails will be making his official big screen debut in the sequel. He will be voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey who has a long history of voicing the character in the video games.
Sonic won't be the only one with help, however. Dr. Robotnik has partnered with Knuckles, another fan-favorite character from the video games who is Sonic's foil and recurring ally. Knuckles is voiced by Idris Elba.
After a rocky first impression that saw the studio go back to the drawing board with Sonic's appearance, Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog ultimately found critical and commercial success, grossing over $300 million at the worldwide box office. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will hope to capture similar success when it races into theaters on April 8, 2022.
