After the surprisingly positive reception that Bumblebee — a movie based on Hasbro's insanely popular Transformers series, which also serves as a series' soft-reboot — the studio was obviously going to decide to make more movies; especially when considering that all previous, and poorly received films have always been major hits at the box office.
Currently, according to sources, Paramount Pictures would be working on two separate Transformers projects: one that would be set in the same universe as Travis Knight's acclaimed Bumblebee, and another live-action film based on the classic Beast Wars: Transformers animated series from the mid and late 90s.
As reported by Deadline, the Beast Wars: Transformers project has Independence Day: Resurgence scribe James Vanderbilt attached to it, and that he has been part of the project since April — although more information about it has not been provided by the source.
Those growing up in the 90s will remember that Beast Wars: Transformers featured a new team of robots that were actually descendants from the original Transformers — even when the show did make it clear that they were in the past; that was one of the series' subplots.
If the rumours are true, Transformers fans may be in for a treat, since this is a pretty great way to have to series of Transformers live-action movies releasing simultaneously. Plus, Beast Wars: Transformers is a series that does deserve some more love, and now is the perfect time to bring it back.
