Pixar released
Ratatouille back in 2007. The animated film starred Patton Oswalt a rat by the name of Remy who dreamed of becoming a renowned chef.
During a recent interview with
The Hollywood Reporter, Oswalt made it clear that he would love to reprise the role of Remy in a sequel to
Ratatouille. Pixar have put out quite a few sequels as of late, such as
Incredibles 2 and
Finding Dory, but it seems that a follow-up to the acclaimed flick in question hasn't even been considered.
"Oh absolutely," Oswalt told to site.
"Any sequel to Ratatouille hinges on Brad Bird coming up with an idea that he likes and would want to pursue. I love that Pixar goes with the pace of the creators. They wait until something amazing happens. So, if he drew up something, that would mean that a truly big inspiration had hit him and he wants to do it. I would absolutely run and do that."
Director Brad Bird has stated in the past that he's not too fond of sequels and that follow-ups to
The Iron Giant or
Ratatouille will likely never see the light of day —
more on that here. However, Bird was at the helm of
Incredibles 2. So, perhaps his outlook has changed.
Oswalt continued, talking about why he's grateful for having worked on
Ratatouille and what he learned from the voice-acting experience:
"Ratatouille definitely taught me just to relax and trust my voice a little bit because I was in there, I said, 'I’m going to bring a voice to this. I’ve got to bring a character to this. They’re like, 'No, you can just use your own voice. We just want you to talk like yourself and to do that and see it like work.' That just was really, really gratifying and filled me with a lot of confidence for future jobs."
