Back in March, it was essentially confirmed by Hasbro that they would be pursuing another live-action
Power Rangers movie. Whether this would be a sequel to the 2017
Power Rangers film or an all-out reboot was unknown at the time.
The 2017 film starred Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, Becky G, RJ Cyler, and Ludi Lin as the titular team. Additionally, Elizabeth Banks featured as the villainous Rita Repulsor. The film included a post-credits scene which appeared to be teasing a sequel, one which would feature the inclusion of the fan-favourite Green Ranger.
This teased sequel will unfortunately not be coming to fruition. The former of those afformentioned stars recently did a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" Q&A in promotion of
Stranger Things and his personal podcast:
DKMH. One of the submitted questions was in regards to the planned sequel to 2017's
Power Rangers.
Montgomery revealed what he knows about Hasbro's plans (via
AnimeMojo): that they're planning another live-action
Power Rangers film but it unfortunately won't be a sequel, nor feature him or the rest of the 2017 cast.
"I think there is a movie in the works but it's not with me and the cast. So yes but not with us." So, an all-out reboot it is.
