Well-known pop star Justin Bieber will be the lead role in Cupid, a new animated feature about the ancient god of love and attraction.
At a young age, the Canadian performer quickly rocketed to fame as a pop singer and teen idol. In 2011, he made the leap to the big screen with the 3D concert film Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which grossed a total of $99 million worldwide.
Despite his popularity, Bieber is yet to take on a starring role in a feature film, instead making multiple cameo appearances in movies - such as Men in Black 3 and Zoolander 2. But now that is set to change as the pop star has teamed up with Mythos Studios to develop an animated film based on the mythological figure Cupid.
As reported by Deadline; Mythos was co-founded by, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun. Braun said this of Bieber's interest in the Cupid project:
When this project was brought to Justin, he instantly was excited to be a part of it. Fortunately for us, like Cupid, he knows a little bit about love and mischief.
Cupid is the god of desire and affection. The character is often depicted in art as a winged baby boy armed with a bow-and-arrow - arrows which, upon impact, cause their target to become smitten.
However, based on a teaser picture which Bieber posted to his Instagram, Cupid's image will almost certainly be altered. Based on Bieber's career history perhaps it could even be a musical.
