One of the most influential horror films remains to be George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead. Despite having been released more than sixty years ago, modern-day horror, thriller, and zombie tales still take obvious cues from one of the most successful horror flicks of all time.
The movie is now set to receive an animated adaptation which will be with audiences in just over a month. Perfectly titled Night of the Animated Dead, a trailer has been released today with more information about the release, including the all-star cast and crew.
Night of the Animated Dead includes the vocal talents of Josh Duhamel (Jupiter's Legacy), Katee Sackhoff (The Flash), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), Dulé Hill (The West Wing), and Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps). In addition, James Roday Rodriguez (Psych), Will Sasso (MadTV), and Nancy Travis (Last Man Standing) will also be heard in the feature.
On the creative side of things are EP's Richard Potter (Diciembres), Thomas DeFeo (The Seventh Day), and Jamie Elliott (Fighting with My Family). Producer credits also include Ralph E. Portillo (Buddy Games), Robert Feldman (Dr. Shroud), Michael J. Luisi (Oculus), and Kevin Kasha (I Spit on Your Grave). Directing the feature is Jason Axinn of To Your Last Death fame, while Demente Animation Studio helped with the visuals.

In Night of the Animated Dead, siblings Barbara and Johnny visit their father's grave in a remote cemetery in Pennsylvania when they are suddenly set upon by zombies. Barbara flees and takes refuge in an abandoned farmhouse along with stranded motorist Ben, and four local survivors found hiding in the cellar. Together, the group must fight to stay alive against the oncoming horde of zombies while also confronting their own fears and prejudices.
Night of the Animated Dead is coming September 21 to Digital and October 5 to Blu-ray Combo Pack & DVD.
