Niantic have announced new in-game events will be added to
Pokemon Go to celebrate the impeding theatrical release of
Detective Pikachu.
May 7th will see a plethora of new content added to the popular mobile-game, all based on the highly-anticipated film. Players will be able to catch a special version of Pikachu (this one will be wearing a detective cap) as well as many more Pokemon. The event will run from tomorrow, through the film's release, for about a week.
As well as a special variant of Pikachu, the event will also allow players to unlock unique gear for their avatars (a shirt with
Detective Pikachu's logo on it as well as a deerstalker hat). You can acquire this attire by taking part in the special Field Research and Field Battles. When catching Pokemon, double-XP will also be active.
