Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy formed a strong bond after their adventures in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and while it was obvious that Miles had a crush on his fellow wall-crawler, Gwen seemed to feel their relationship was more platonic.
Well, it sounds like that's going to change in upcoming sequel, Across the Spider-Verse.
“The danger with a sequel is to go bigger just for bigger’s sake,” producer Amy Pascal tells Empire. “But all the bells and whistles are no good unless you care. And the thing you’ll care about most deeply is the connection between our young Spider-heroes. This movie is a love story between Miles and Gwen.”

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Manis catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.
The confirmed voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, Daniel Kaluuya, Shea Whigham, Jorma Taccone, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Brian Tyree Henry.
