According to a new report from
Deadline, the live-action
Tom & Jerry movie has cast Michael Pena. The live-action movie will star Chloe Grace Moretz as Kayla alongside animated versions of the iconic cat and mouse duo: Tom and Jerry.
Pena will play the film's antagonist: Terrance. It's said that Pena's character is the deputy general manager of a Park Hotel which hires Moretz's character. Terrance is described as
"a bit of a bully," and is pitted against Kayla after upper management take a liking to her.
Pena is most well-known for his role in the
Ant-Man movies (as the scene-stealing character: Luis),
A Wrinkle In Time,
The Lego Ninjago Movie, and
Narcos: Mexico. The
Tom & Jerry movie isn't the only live-action adaptation of a well-known animated property that Pena is set to star in; he will play Dora's father in the upcoming
Dora and the Lost City of Gold movie.
The
Tom & Jerry movie will be directed by Tim Story (
Ride Along) and written by Bryan Schulz, Cornelius Uliano, and Kevin Costello.
Tom & Jerry is set to arrive in theaters on April 16th, 2021.
