Netflix is spreading some Christmas cheer this holiday season with its orignal animated film
Klaus, coming to the streaming service November 15.
Klaus is a unique interpretation of Santa's origin story as it follows a trio of characters who attempt to restore joy and happiness into the town of Smeerensburg, a frozen town above the Arctic Circle that's been dubbed the "unhappiest place on Earth."
Netflix has released three individual videos introducing us to the three main characters: Jesper (Jason Schwartzman), a reluctant postman tasked with the the impossible mission of establishing a postal service in Smeerensburg; Klaus (J.K. Simmons), a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys; and Alva (Rashida Jones), a local teacher who has long given up hope since her classroom is often left empy due to the age-old family feud in town.
Check out all of their character videos below and hear more from the three actors who play them.
When Jesper (Jason Schwartzman) distinguishes himself as the postal academy’s worst student, he is stationed on a frozen island above the Arctic Circle, where the feuding locals hardly exchange words let alone letters. Jesper is about to give up when he finds an ally in local teacher Alva (Rashida Jones), and discovers Klaus (Oscar® winner J.K. Simmons), a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys. These unlikely friendships return laughter to Smeerensburg, forging a new legacy of generous neighbors, magical lore and stockings hung by the chimney with care.
Klaus is directed by Despicable Me co-creator Sergio Pablos. It will arrive on Netflix on November 15.
