Maleficent will be returning to the big screen on October 18th. With
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil three weeks away from release,
Walt Disney Studios has begun releasing television spots in promotion of the forthcoming sequel.
A lot of these brief videos feature some new footage and interesting tidbits that weren't revealed in previous trailers. Angelina Jolie is back as the titular evil fairy godmother and Elle Fanning is also returning as Princess Aurora. Others will be reprising their roles from the 2014 film, however, the sequel will also be introducing some new faces.
Michelle Pfieffer's Queen Ingris throws a spanner in the works of Maleficent's happily ever after. As the two powerful women meet, a full-blown war between fairies and humans commences — leaving Aurora stuck in the middle.
There are four new spots and you can check them out below.
"Prey" and
"Darkest Twist" are quite action-packed whilst
"Something Evil" is pretty terrifying and
"Fright" shows off the fairytale aspects of the upcoming sequel — such as mythical creatures beyond fairies such as Ents.
The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds. When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set to arrive in theatres on October 18th, 2019.
