Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will see the return of Angeline Jolie as the iconic, titular villainess. The live-action Disney movie will, of course, be a sequel to the 2014 film which was simply titled
Maleficent and was a prequel to the classic
Sleeping Beauty tale.
Disney
has now released our very first look at the
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil which came in the form of a teaser trailer. Though it's just a teaser and only a minute and a third in length, the trailer does show off quite a bit.
Check it out below:
Angelina Jolie will be reprising the role of Maleficent, as mentioned above, and Elle Fanning will similarly be returning as Princess Aurora. Also returning to their roles from the first instalment are the following actors: Juno Temple, Sam Riley, and Imelda Staunton.
Though, evidently, many actors are returning to the franchise, the sequel will also introduce some new faces. Ed Skrein, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor will all be introduced as new characters in the upcoming follow-up.
Robert Stromberg, the director of the first instalment, will not be returning to direct. Instead, Joachim Ronning (
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) will be at the helm. Micah Fitzerman-Blue, Noah Harpster, and Linda Woolverton are responsible for the script.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set to arrive in theatres on October 8th, 2019.
