Animated media has continued to grow in popularity over the years. Still, the pandemic sent things into overdrive, making animated projects easier to navigate logistically.
Now it seems as though every platform is looking to add as many animated adventures as they can to their streaming lists. Luckily for fans of the storytelling medium, this means various new projects to choose from when viewing.
Skydance Animation and Apple Original Films have teamed up to create a slate of animation all their own, with three projects currently in development. The feature film Spellbound and an animated series, The Search for WondLa, are on the way, with another film, Luck, set to launch in just six months.
Luck is the story of the unlucky and disaster-prone Sam as she tries to navigate her way to the Land of Luck while working alongside numerous magical creatures. It has now been announced that the series will hit streaming on August 5th.
Alongside the release date, Apple and Skydance also announced the voice talents that will bring the two main characters to life. Sam will be voiced by Eva Noblezada (Miss Saigon, Hadestown), while her black cat counterpart Bob will be brought to life by Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Star Trek).
Pegg and Noblezada join a star-studded cast consisting of Flula Borg (The Suicide Squad), Lil Rel Howery (Get Out), Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act), Jane Fonda (Monster-In-Law), Colin O'Donoghue (Once Upon A Time), John Ratzenberger (Cheers), and child actress Adelynn Spoon (Watchmen).
Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation have confirmed that they are also working together on a number of projects in addition to Spellbound, The Search for WondLa, and Luck, but those have yet to be revealed.
