For some time, Disney has been remaking some of its best animated features by turning them into live action movies. So far, we've had live action adaptations of
The Jungle Book and
Beauty and the Beast, with a remake of
Aladdin and
The Lion King releasing in the coming months.
A live action adaptation of
Mulan was also announ ced back in 2016, getting our first look at Liu Yifei as Fa Mulan in August of last year. The movie is scheduled to release on the
27th of March in 2020, so there are still members of the cast that need to be announced.
The latest rumor doing the rounds seems to suggest that Disney may be considering Kevin Hart to play Mulan's guardian dragon Mushu. The rumor doesn't claim that Disney has already decided to cast Hart, but suggests that they are narrowing down the list and the comedian is one of their choices.
Mushu was originally played by Eddie Murphy, who has chosen not to reprise his role as the self-absorbed guardian dragon.
So far, the live action
Mulan movie is boasting the talents of Liu Yifei as Fa Mulan, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, and Jet Li as the Emperor; with a rumored cameo by Ming Na Wen, who voiced Mulan in the 1998 movie.
Mulan will hit theaters on the 27th of March in 2020.
