Rapper-singer PItbull joined Illumination's UglyDolls animated film back in March and singer/actress Kelly Clarkson is the latest performer to come aboard.

Clarkson will be voicing a character named Moxy.  Variety describes the film as following, " Moxy and her UglyDolls friends confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most."

In addition to the film, an animated TV series will follow shortly thereafter, which will stream on Hulu.

The Uglydolls brand is based in a universe where the word "ugly" is used to refer to things that are unique, special- things that should be celebrated.

In a press release, Clarskon stated, "The UglyDolls’ universal message celebrating our differences and individuality really resonates with me, and when STX showed me how incredible ‘UglyDolls’ will look and feel, I jumped at being part of that world. I can’t wait to start working with the team at STX, the cast and filmmakers."

STxfilms has slated UglyDolls for a 2019 release.
