Jumanji: The Next Level is in theatres and has also debuted on review-aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes (via
Gamefragger). It's a sequel to 2017's
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle — which itself holds a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and did very well at the box office.
Rotten Tomatoes takes into account professional reviews from across the web and melts them down into one all-important percentage based on how many of them are positive and how many aren't. In
Jumanji: The Next Level's case, 148 reviews have been taken into account and a 67% rating has been calculated — meaning that percentage of the reviews are positive.
The Tomatometer score comes along with a consensus which similarly boils down the gist of the reviews into an easily digestible sentence or two.
Jumanji: The Next Level's Critic Consensus is as follows:
"Like many classic games, Jumanji: The Next Level retains core components of what came before while adding enough fresh bits to keep things playable."
Despite a less than impressive Critics Score on Rotten Tomatoes, Jumanji: The Next Level has gone down very well with general audiences. The Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, which takes into account reviews of average moviegoers, currently sits at 87% — which is the exact same as that of
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
Jumanji: The Next Level is set to release in theatres on December 13th, 2019.
