The Incredibles 2 will likely hold several box office records before it finishes its run in theaters. It's already off to a strong start, grossing $18.5 million USD from Thursday night previews.  By comparison, 2018's earlier big animated film, Isle of Dogs, opened to $560k USD and grossed a total of $31.6 million USD total.  The Incredibles 2 will nearly triple that amount by weekend's end.

For a more fair comparison, Thursday's opening box office total surpasses last-year's Beauty and the Beast, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok. These three films all went on to gross at least $850 million, worldwide.

Do you plan on seeing the film this weekend, or have you already viewed it? Let us know in the comment section below.

In The Incredibles 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
