Fans of 2018's CG-animated The Grinch, Illumination's adaptation of Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, will get another chance to catch the adorable holiday movie. When the film was unfortunately removed from Netflix, it was originally unclear why. Now we may have an idea -- it will be making its premiere on Freeform tonight!
As part of Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas holiday television schedule, The Grinch will be premiering on the network on December 18 at 9:00 p.m. If you are unable to catch it tonight, it will be shown once more this season on Saturday, December 19 at 6:35 p.m.
This is the first time The Grinch will air on Freeform, which typically shows Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the 2000 live-action adaptation starring Jim Carrey. While that one is a fan-favorite and adored by many, Illumination's adaptation has its own unique charm and humor.
Its removal from Netflix caught a lot of people off-guard as it was featured on the streaming service to start the month. However, on December 4, it was abruptly removed without explanation. It's assumed the removal had something to do with licensing rights and perhaps its premiere on Freeform is part of that. What's unclear now is if Illumination's The Grinch will now be a regular part of Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas schedule.
If you don't get Freeform, there are other ways to watch Illumination's The Grinch. It's available to buy or rent on most digital platforms, including YouTube, Amazon Prime, Vudu, Google Play, and FandangoNow.
