Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, one of this year's most anticipated movies, finally swings into theaters this weekend. The highly anticipated sequel to 2018's Into the Spider-Verse, Sony Pictures' latest effort has been dubbed a masterpiece. Not only does it live up to the expectations set forth by its predecessor, but exceeds them in every way. Some are even calling it the greatest animated movie of all time.

From the dazzling visuals to the action-packed moments, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse feels like one of the rare movies these days that's a must-see in theaters. But for those who prefer movies at home, or are waiting for it to come to streaming services, when will you be able to watch Across the Spider-Verse online?

When is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Netflix?

There's no set date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to arrive on streaming platforms. However, many estimate it will come to Netflix around November or December of this year.

This is based on the exclusivity deal that Sony Pictures signed with Netflix back in 2021. This granted Netflix first pay window rights to Sony Pictures Entertainment titles following their theatrical and home entertainment windows, beginning with films starting in 2022. Recent trends have seen Sony movies release on Netflix between four to six months after their theatrical run, typically depending on their box office performance.

Should this trend continue for Across the Spider-Verse, it will likely land on Netflix sometime between October and December 2023. Based on the glowing reviews for Across the Spider-Verse, it'll likely be towards the latter date, as a strong box office performance could encourage Sony to keep it in theaters longer.

When is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse coming to Disney+?

Sony Pictures is one of the few studios that doesn't have its own streaming platform, so once that first pay window has expired for Netflix, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse streaming will eventually come to Disney+. The deal between Sony and Disney allows the House of Mouse access to Sony's theatrical releases following their "Pay 1 TV Window," which is typically the first 18 months of their streaming windows. If Across the Spider-Verse lands on Netflix between October and December, then it probably won't be until 2025 that the animated sequel comes to Disney+.

Across the Spider-Verse Digital release date

Now before Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse comes to Netflix or Disney+, the movie will first have its home release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Sales. This typically happens between 60 and 90 days after its theatrical release. If that's the case, then Across the Spider-Verse should be available digitally sometime in late July or early August.

All of this, of course, is dependent on how Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse performs at the box office. If it has legs, then we'll be waiting longer to watch it at home.
