We've known for a while now that DreamWorks Animation was working on a third installment in its Oscar-winning animated franchise
How to Train Your Dragon, and now we know the official title. Announced by Universal Pictures today, the third installment is titled
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. It's keeping its release date of March 1, 2019.
In addition to the title, we also have the first official synopsis, hinting at trouble for Toothless. The synopsis reads:
“As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.”
In addition to the major cast members returning, including Jay Baruchel as Hiccup, Cate Blanchett as Valka and America Ferrera as Astrid Hofferson, newcomer F. Murray Abraham will play the new villain, Grimmel.
