Genndy Tartakovsky Reveals He Had Ideas For A SAMURAI JACK Film, But Is He Still Interested In The Project?
Last year, fans said goodbye to Jack, as Genndy Tartakovsky delivered one final season of Samurai Jack, and now the beloved creator admitted to having other plans for the character at one point...
Between projects like Star Wars: Clone Wars and Samurai Jack, Genndy Tartakovsky has long been a fan-favorite. The popularity of his many works even helped enable the creator to revive the beloved Samurai Jack series last year.
This revival allowed Tartakovsky to give the series’ hero a proper sendoff that garnered acclaim from fans and critics alike. But does this mean the writer and director had no other ideas for the character? Well, in an interview with ComicBook.com, Tartakovsky revealed he once considered making a Samurai Jack film.
"Yeah. That's something I had talked about, doing a feature that's just as artistic as the TV show, but in the CG medium. And, then I started to get ideas of how to do that, how to take advantage of it... And so, it could easily be done, but I feel like, now that I've finished Jack, I probably will try to do something original."
It’s certainly interesting and exciting to hear Tartakovsky once had plans for a CG film based on the popular series, but it definitely sounds like it’s something we shouldn’t expect to see, as the creator seeks to move away from the property.
Still, it remains a concept that is intriguing to think about. Would it have been connected to his show, and would the story have been similar to what we saw in the final season?
