In the comics, Ganke is Miles' best-friend and roommate. In Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse he at least fulfils one of those titles, but unfortunately it seems that there were too many multiversal webslingers about to develop Ganke, or Miles' friendship with him, at all.
Thankfully, Comicbook.com have discovered that in the new book Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - The Art of the Movie, there's a little more info on Ganke and a tease that he'll have a more significant role in future films. Production designer Justin K. Thompson states that Ganke's role in Into The Spider-Verse was actually decreased, but the same won't be said for its sequels.
Here's what Thompson had to say on what we did see of Ganke: "He is one of the most gifted students at the Academy. We see him stay up all night working on his quantum entanglement thesis. He's so single-mindedly focused that he seems completely oblivious to anything his roommate might be up to."
Synopsis: In the "classic Spider-Man mold", Miles Morales must juggle his high school life with his status as a superhero, as he is introduced to the "Spider-Verse" where there can be more than just one Spider-Man.
What do you think of the production designer's statements? What are your thoughts on Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse?
