With Warner Bros. having now set a release date for its movie adaptation of Tom and Jerry, the studio is now turning its eye towards casting.

Earlier reports have revealed that the plot of Tom and Jerry will revolve around the rivalry between the two titular characters as Tom, the cat, is enlisted to help a character named "Kayla" stop Jerry, the mouse, from ruining an important event.

It's now being reported by That Hashtag Show that Peter Dinklage, from HBO's Game of Thrones series, is now the top candidate to play the movie's lead male role, Terrance. The site reports that Terrance is the film's antagonist, and boss of Kayla, though it's unclear exactly what that means in terms of the overall story.

Previous reports revealed that  Zoey Deutch (Zombieland: Double Tap, Set It Up) and Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel, Ready Player One) are being eyed for the role of Kayla.

Bryan Schulz, Cornelius Uliano, and Kevin Costello are writing the Tom and Jerry movie with filming expected to begin this year. The plan is to add animated versions of Tom and Jerry into shots of the real world.

Tom and Jerry is slated to hit theaters on April 16, 2021.
