Funko are one of the biggest current names in the collectible merchandise industry. According to a new report by Deadline, Warner Bros. Animation are working on an animated movie based on the Funko brand.

It sounds quite similar to the partnership between LEGO and Warner Bros. which spawned The LEGO Movie. Similar to the LEGO Group, Funko have produced merchandise based on essentially every franchise under the sun. The most popular of Funko's products are their Funko Pop! bobblehead figurines (which you can see above), so the film will likely focus on those.

The Executive VP of Warner Animation Group Allison Abbate will oversee the partnership between Warner Bros. and Funko. Warner Animation has enlisted the Oscar-nominated writer by the name of Teddy Newton and Mark Dindal to figure out a story for the Funko movie. The CEO of Funko had this to say about the project:

"We're thrilled for this opportunity and are committed to make an amazing Funko movie that stands on its own merit. This isn't about selling toys or building a brand. The team at Warner Animation Group have a unique vision of what the first film should be and we are extremely excited to take this journey alongside them."
