The long-awaited sequel to 2013's
Frozen will finally be arriving in theatres on November 22nd. Frozen 2 will see Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck return to direct as well as Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad all reprise their roles.
Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez are the pair responsible for the many iconic songs of
Frozen — like "Do You Want To Build A Snowman," and "First Time In Forever." Like the above-mentioned crew, they've returned to work on the sequel.
During a recent appearance on
Jimmy Kimmel Live, the latter of the aforementioned cast revealed that work on the sequel is essentially complete. Gad also teased that the songs that feature in the upcoming and highly anticipated sequel will be even more catchy than those of the first installment.
It’s done. Can I just say something outrageous? I’m not even sure if I’m allowed to say this, but can I just say I think the songs are even better in this movie. Now I’ve set the bar so high, but they are so good. Bobby Lopez and Kristin Lopez, who wrote the original, they came back and did songs that are just [phenomenal]. That’s the big concern. How do you top those [Frozen] songs. They’re even catchier, I’m sorry to say.
Given that "Let It Go" won an Academy Award for "Best Original Song," claiming that
Frozen 2 will feature even better songs is certainly high praise. We'll just have to wait until November 22nd to find out whether that's an accurate thesis.
Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In “Frozen,” Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In “Frozen 2,” she must hope they are enough.
Frozen 2 is set to arrive in theatres on November 22nd, 2019.
